2009 Table Rock Pre-Event Report

Cruisin' to Holiday Island

Cruisin' to Holiday Island

The 2009 Table Rock Pre-Event was a success. Ten classic boats with 26 people left the east end of Table Rock Lake in Missouri on Wednesday, June 3rd, stopped for lunch at Campbell Point, then cruised on to Holiday Island in Northwest Arkansas. Though the skies were threatening, there was no rain and just a bit of wind making it easy to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the route of the White River.

Facelifts for Grand Lake Classics

Susan Miller reports, “Jim Frechette at Fleetwood Boats in Austin, who is one of our club members is currently doing a makeover on my boat. He sent pictures of the name being re-done after sanding and a few new coats of varnish. Daddy Had One will be sporting the correct paint and upholstery for a 1967 Super Sport.” She’ll be ready to go before the Grand Lake Show.

If you’ve been to the Grand Lake Event, you’ll remember the transom always used for the Ship’s Store and registration booth. New pictures will be posted as progress on its restoration is made in the WoodPro shop in Tulsa, thanks to Kyle Jamar and his crew. (newest picture on top)

WINTER BLUES? Can’t Wait ’til June?

icy-big-cedar-dock
There’s no better way to chase those winter blues away after a week of “ice-o-lation” than cruisin’ on the beautiful blue waters of Table Rock Lake under an icy-blue sky. John and Carolynn Thompson practically had the lake to themselves as they soaked up the sunshine on their way to lunch at Big Cedar’s Devil’s Pool. Don and Kathy Parker always enjoy being part of the Thompson’s adventures in Big Thom, a 1963 Thompson Super Lancer. Of course, the lunch time conversation was about planned activities for the Cruisin’ Weekend to be held on Table Rock Lake in June and the new pre-event two-day cruise to Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

1963 27’ Sea Skiff
Written by Bob Kanak

New Acquisition

Here’s my latest acquisition, a 1963 27’ Chris Craft Sea Skiff. I bought it for the trailer for my other Sea Skiffs thinking I would part out the boat but it is in remarkably good condition. The upholstery is not torn, just dirty. Everything is there, the hull is sound, it needs cosmetics, paint and varnish. This Sea Skiff has a single 283 with 853 hours. I bought the boat in Wister, OK about 50 miles from Fort Smith. It use to reside on Grand Lake at the mouth of Drowning Creek which is the next cove down from where our property is in Big Hollow Cove.

High Expectations Underway

The name “High Expectations” was given by my wife who used to work with me and she set a business goal to be met for the first 6 months of 2000. With her help we made it and she named the boat.
