2011 M&C Report

WOW !! Oklahoma, you provided us with the perfect weather for a fantastic Festival. Moderate temperatures, light winds, and lots of sun provided the perfect setting for a wonderful weekend on Grand Lake.

Cruising on Friday was wonderful. Phil Henage and his team did an excellent job getting us all headed out in the right direction. Here is a shot of Phil in action doing an outstanding job.

This group does like to eat!  Thursday evening at Carlos Montez, Friday lunch on the lake at Ozzie’s, Friday night Fish Fry at Brent Howard’s uniquely beautiful new home, Saturday breakfast and lunch at Arrowhead Yacht Club, Awards banquet at Cherokee Yacht Club, and Sunday buffet at Pensacola Pizza with special serenades from the chef.

SHOW TIME !!

Show day included displays on land, a Ship’s Store

with new sweatshirts, special greeters with the “People’s Choice Ballets”

and then the awesome show which many spectators enjoyed for free.

How many more now want a classic boat?  Youth Judging taught some of the fundamentals of what values to look for in a classic boat. Rumors have it that some cookies on one boat might have been offered as bribes.

The Awards Banquet started off with CONGRATULATIONS to the whole chapter membership for being designated “A Chapter of the Year” by ACBS.  Bobby Gibson was also presented with the Hagerty Safety Award for an article published in last fall’s Mahogany & Chrome.

A complete list of show winners will appear in the next Mahogany & Chrome issue. One award is given for not just the show, but for a whole year of service to the organization. This year’s winner of the President’s Cup, presented by president Kathy Parker, is a couple, Patty and Clay Thompson, who have led workshops, hosted an event, written articles, and served as treasurer of Heartland Classics.
