2011 Table Rock Report – Main Event

This “the most fun of all” events started early for six boats, eight couples, on Table Rock’s downstream sister lake, Bull Shoals. Then the size of the group and number of boats increased upon their return to Table Rock on Thursday afternoon. Twenty-three boats and over sixty people enjoyed the whole weekend of food, fun and friendship all centered around using our classic boats on the water on beautiful Table Rock Lake.

John and Carolynn Thompson led us in their 1961 Higgins for the pre-event and in their 1984 Skiff Craft, which served as a taxi for many, for the Friday and Sunday cruises and the great Saturday evening sharing of a meal and their lake house.

Dick and Cara Moist served as co-hosts throughout the event and starred in their roles Friday evening at the Ozarks Yacht Club and then on the Saturday cruise to Coyotes Dockside Restaurant owned by a Heartland Classics member, David Bauer.

Friday’s 65 mile round trip cruise went up the beautiful James River Arm of Table Rock Lake to Cape Fair, Missouri for a great lunch at Koppies and service at the new marina.

New members came to participate – that’s really exciting! The newest are from Springfield, Dan and Melissa Bosso who brought their 19’ rowing skiff which is a real work of art.

Chuck and Grace Ellsworth brought their 1971 XK22 from Cushing, OK.

Antique Boat Center sent Jeremy Bragg and Jim Barach with a 1949 Chris Craft U-22 from Cincinnati.

All present had a great time and enjoyed sharing our time with four couples visiting from the Mississippi Valley ACBS Chapter. They’re such close neighbors that we feel like they belong, too.

Once more we got to celebrate anniversaries at Cruisin’ Weekend. Bob and Millicent Van Dyke celebrated their 60th and Chick and Karon Wheat are up to 47 years of marriage.

Next year, classics will cruise Table Rock Lake as part of the pre-event for the International ACBS Meeting and Show. Make your reservations now at Big Cedar. Events will begin on Sunday, September 16, 2012 and conclude on Sunday, September 23, 2012. It is an honor and privilege to be asked to host this amazing gathering of premier boats and the people who love them.
